On Saturday while walking around Circular Quay in Sydney I noticed an above average looking chick holding up one of those ‘free hugs’ signs that were all over the tv years ago, as I got closer I noticed there was even an old dude with the same sign right next to her. Amazed by the situation and contrasting choice available, I stood there staring to see what kind of people want hugs from these sign baring strangers while also pondering why these idiots would waste a perfect weathered Saturday to let complete fucking strangers feel them up.
Don’t get me wrong, hugs can be alright when you know the person or they can even be a pretty smooth way of trying to get in with a chick at a club (you know the ‘heyyyyyyyy’ hugs) but in both cases you have the choice of who you are/attempting to hug. Not in these idiots case, they are standing their inviting any fucking body to come and get in grab/squeeze.
Anyway in the 5ish minutes I was standing there, as one would suspect the chick was by far the more popular. Also as I expected not everyone was doing it with perhaps the perceived good intentions the idiots were trying to achieve. This none more evident than when the third stranger going in for a hug holding on a little longer than most would agree to be the acceptable hug length.
In fact he even went a step further by pushing in the lower front part of his body if you know what I mean. As I never do this while I hug (well not when clothed) I know exactly what his intention was which made me A) grossed the fuck out for the girl and B) laugh out loud.
End of the day who invented the free hug craze, did they not get enough love as a kid from their parents and have they been raped yet, if not I’m suspecting its only a matter of time (unless they are a dude ofcourse…. in which case no matter how much he wants to be it shall never happen).
